WE’RE THE ADVENTURISTS
…and we’re fighting to make the world less boring. Our planet used to slap us about the face-cheeks with iron fists of adventure every day. Maps had edges to walk off. Whole continents lay undiscovered. We live to find ways to make the world a bit more difficult. To bring chaos into our over-sanitised lives. To create adventures across the world where you don’t know what will happen tomorrow or if you’ll even make it.
In the spirit of unbridled adventure, we’ve accelerated to a gallop with the launch of ‘The Equestrianists’ – not just any horse racing series, but the globe-trotting, heart-pounding, ultimate endurance showdown on hooves. And not content to stop there, we’ve also unleashed ‘Venturo Adventure Machines’ – our audacious leap into crafting the ultimate conduits of thrill that you can’t just buy – you have to earn through adventure.
We’re growing rapidly and only just getting started on our journey of world domination.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the CEO this role is responsible for all marketing functions within The Adventurists, The Equestrianists and Venturo Adventure Machines (the latter being a very small operation).
We offer thousands of spots for daring adventurers each year. At its core, this role is delivering the marketing that fills these seats, stirrups and saddles.
On top of that, we’re growing our adventure base constantly. With our plans of world domination extending further into all corners of the globe and a number of freshly baked concepts about to come out of the adventure oven we’re growing constantly. This person needs to be able to grow our audience to match.
In the future, we aspire to grow awareness of our unique brands – driving media and sponsorship plays. We believe in the potential of the brands we’ve created, and we’re certain there is a huge opportunity to turn these brands into household names in the coming years. The right person will be a crucial part of that brand growth.
The raw materials are there. Large brands spend millions creating events and experiences that create content as compelling as ours… The Adventurists creates it automatically – because on any given Tuesday we have hundreds of people barrelling across a foreign land in a totally unsuitable vehicle or thundering across the steppe on the back of a mount they met five minutes ago.
In today’s myriad of marketing disciplines the term ‘Growth Marketing’ is close to what we need, but ‘Generalist’ and ‘Multi-Talented’ is pretty high up on the priority list.
Everything marketing is this role’s responsibility and there’s a ‘back-to-basics’ approach required up front. This role is hands on – posting content on social media or updating the website is part of the remit. As we grow, so will the team around the right candidate and responsibilities will be reshuffled.
Marketing opportunities like this don’t come along often. We know that what we have on offer is a life-changing product for those with the daring to take on our challenges and adventures. For the right marketeer, with the right passions, this kind of role is a rare opportunity to really (really) believe in the hype of what it is they are marketing… and in this corporate world that is all too rare.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all marketing activities for The Adventurists, The Equestrianists and Venturo.
- Refine the entire customer journey, removing obstacles and smoothing the way until it gleams with efficiency and moves folks along it like greased lightning.
- Develop and execute digital cross channel strategy including organic and paid social, PPC advertising, email marketing, website content and more to drive awareness, consideration and conversion. Provide analytics and reporting on the results on a regular basis.
- Move us quickly to a proactive stance in our marketing, putting us on the front foot. Our sales cycle begins 12-18 months in advance of adventure launch, so marketing plans must follow suit.
- Create and manage the content calendar, working closely with the wider team to proactively focus efforts on adventures that have capacity.
- Hands on posting on social media and website updates as required.
- Create email marketing content and automations, using the CRM to target specific segments.
- Gather data from (currently) disparate systems and draw insights to be converted into solid strategies.
- Use scientific marketing experiments such as A/B testing and data analysis to drive better results.
- Spring clean our systems and processes to facilitate growth from a solid footing. Within a budget, there’s a blank slate to build a marketing ecosystem of your own devising – a unique chance to build it right – rather than arriving into an established and immovable organisation.
- Foreseeing the need for additional marketing resources, search, selection, onboarding, training.
IF YOU CAN DO ALL THAT, IT WILL ALSO HELP IF YOU HAVE…
- A real interest and passion for what we do. We’d love it if you have done one of our adventures in the past – and we’re going to insist you do one if you haven’t.
- Proactivity in spades. Kick-ass communication skills. Willingness to get your hands dirty.
- Demonstrable experience developing marketing systems and processes. We’re in need of an upgrade, and we need to get to the right things first time.
- Experience leveraging tight budgets to outsize results.
- Good eye for quality content of all types plus the ability to write briefs that create it.
- Skills in crafting (or guiding the craft of) copy that speaks with The Adventurists’ unique voice. It’s easy to get wrong, and this role needs to be able to catch it and correct it.
- Skills to make quick changes to existing artwork. We don’t want this role to be a designer – that’s silly. But so is waiting hours for minor copy changes to a piece of artwork that needed to go out yesterday.
- Analytical mental toolbox to decode past & predict future trends in our business & execute accordingly.
- A passion for staying current. We’re looking for a person who scouts the digital realm, eager to discover and leverage the latest technologies and platforms to enhance our arsenal of tactics and strategies.
- Any experience in the online retail field is a plus. We’re keen to get Adventurists, Equestrianists and Venturo merchandise into the hands of the waiting and eager masses.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Salary £50-60k dependant on experience
- Remote with very occasional travel to Bristol, Chepstow or Brighton for face-to-face team meetings
- We think it’s important the person in this role gets out and experiences our product first hand. Getting some rickshaw engine grease under your fingernails will be good for the soul. So there will be some occasional international travel to help crew the adventures and take part every now and again too. Likely to be far-flung and slightly odd locations.
- Flexible working hours possible (around business needs)
- Discounted adventures
