Me oh my, oh goodness. Allow us to just wipe the sweat from our collective brow and take a breather for just a wee moment. The Adventurists HQ has been a whirlwind of productivity fuelled by excessive caffeine consumption and chewing on weird tasting licorice from Iceland. We thought that it would be a good idea to grab some hobnobs, sit down for a moment, and tell you about all the amazing things that we are working on. So, grab yourself a brew and prepare yourself, you might just sign up to an adventure yourself by the end of this.
The Icarus Trophy 2018 RSA Recce
Sure, it looks like we spend most of our time arsing about, and to a certain extent, that’s true. But believe it or not a huge amount of effort and planning goes into organising our events, especially ones that involve flying over huge expanses of land, littered with dangerous wild animals.
The Icarus Trophy is coming to South Africa and will be a near 1000 mile ariel behemoth that will challenge even the most experienced of pilots. Rather than giving you a route, we are scouting an area that’s perfect for you to get lost in and explore. The gauntlet will begin just outside Johannesburg and venture (roughly) northward towards Victoria Falls in Zambia.
The team is there right now testing kit, checking routes and making all the mistakes so you don’t have to. You can follow their progress right here.
Rickshaw Run Sri Lanka Pioneer Edition
The Rickshaw Run has already ventured to India and the Himalaya, so we thought it about high time to take it somewhere else. Hello Sri Lanka. This island off the south-east coast of India is rammed with culture, nature and awesomeness, and we think that the best way to explore it, is on a Rickshaw.
Our pioneer edition gets underway in May and there are still some spots available for you to be the first to experience The Adventurists version of a trip to Sri Lanka. This is a short sharp shot of adventure that you’ll struggle to get anywhere else. Think of it as a vaccination against boredom. Find out more HERE.
The Ice Run 2018
The class of 2018 are well into their adventure and have already run into a couple of snags. Despite having their hands held for the last few days to help them get used to their Urals, they’ve had a crash, an injury and one of the teams ventured the wrong way in what ended up being a 100km solo adventure.
If you’ve ever wondered what kind of person wants to sleep on the ice in some seriously chilly temperatures, take a look at this video of some of the teams before they set off. They actually seem pretty chirpy. Track the teams progress HERE.
The Adventurists Annual Conference
Having successfully graced the United States with our presence the other week, it’s time to spread our love right here in Blighty. With that in mind, our attention has turned to The Adventurists Annual Conference, a name that frankly, doesn’t do it justice. Instead, it should be called "The Adventurists Annual Feral Fest Full Of Cake and Drink and Other Ridiculous Happenings", but alas, my suggestions are never taken up.
Tickets are on sale now and trust us, this is going to be well worth the cash. We are selling early bird tickets for £195 so get on it before we whack up the price. You will not be disappointed.
In Other News.
Mr Tom was on the actual flipping news in actual America promoting the screening of Balloonacy, the film which followed our beloved leader on his journey to certain death, only, he didn't die. Here's his interview with some very shiny Americans.
Leave us a comment below and let us know how we're doing, what we could be doing or anything else. I mean, we probably won't listen, but what have you got to lose? Exactly.
Over and out.
