The Adventurists rouse Shambala's mighty Wonky Cock

The Adventurists have recently returned from rather a spiffing weekend at Shambala Festival,  where we ran a series of adventure talks in the superbly named Wonky Cock tavern. Amongst the glut of music festivals that now litter the English summer calender, Shambala stands out as being one of the most creative, colourful, eccentric and, well, you get the idea. Over the course of the three day bacchanal we had three marvellous adventurers rousing the Wonky Cock with their tales of global mishaps.

First up was Nathan Millward, a sterling chap who thought it would be an awfully good idea to steer a tiny motorbike from Sydney to the UK without any sort of planning or preparation. Nathan gave a hilarious talk and demonstrated perfectly that you don't have to be some heavily-sponsored, 'I'm bloody amazing' type 'explorer' to hit the road and have a ripping adventure. He was followed on Saturday by Joff Summerfield, who circumnavigated this large rock we call Earth on a handbuilt Pennyfarthing. Most of us would struggle to reach the local pub on one of these antiquated beasts, but Joff rode 23,000 miles on his. Amazing. Finally our favourite travel writer and itinerant Peter Moore took to the boards to entertain the masses with his tall tales from the road. Peter, as always, went down a storm.

Feast your eyes on the photos below to get a taste of this bucolic weekend in the English countryside. And do pop along next year for more Shambolic adventuring.
