Another stonking Czechout

Since its inception three years ago, Czechout - held  in the splendid 13th century surrounds of Klenova Castle - has become a legendary night of feasting and revelry. And this year was no exception.

After Buddy had whipped the masses into a frenzy at the Mongol Rally European launch, the marauding Rally hordes donned their finest Arabian Knights costumes and wended their merry way up the hill to the castle. There were belly dancers (male ones), cosmonauts, genies, bears, men clad in startling gold lamé, burkhas, Ali Babas, Sinbads and a host of other loosely Arabian characters. All made their way through the vast wooden gates of the castle into a Bacchanalian party of epic proportions. To kick things off a hearty Czech feast was served to the dulcet tunes of Prague's Bridge Band, septuagenarian jazzsters with excellent facial hair.

Having eaten their fill, teams explored the nooks, crannies and ramparts of Klenova, discovering the crepuscular delights of the Shisha-infused tea room and the eclectic tunes of DJ Gadjo in the Rave Cave. Revellers then enjoyed a trio of excellent Czech bands: Mário Bihári and Bachtale Apsa, Lus3 and Maradonna Jazz. Given that there was a large propensity of males at the party, the lissom blonde lead singer of Lus3 went down particlarly well.

They were followed by the exceptional Palitchi, pyrotechnic geniuses who for a second year running wowed the crowd with their dazzling fire display.

Believe it or not there is actually a person in the middle of this fireball!

At around 1 a.m, by which point a large quantity of Pilsner and Absinthe had been consumed, the hordes returned to the camping field, where DJ Slater played a stonking tech house set until the first glimmers of dawn were staining the sky and most people had ceased to make much sense. In all, it was an excellent party, or as one team wrote; 'definitely the craziest party I've ever been to'.

Until next year.....
