Last Saturday we flung open our warehouse doors on World Water Day for a party to celebrate our chums at Frank Water. We'd thrown down tonnes of sand and pumped our industrial antique gas burner up to full power to generate a hot breeze and if you squinted a bit it felt just like you were in the Rajasthani desert.
The evening was kicked off by speeches from Adventurist chief Mr Rob and Phillipa from Frank Water, who also presented Our Chief of Chiefs Mr Tom with a golden tap to recognise the stacks of cash which have been raised for Frank by countless Rickshaw Run teams over the last seven years.
The lovely folks at the Thali Cafe had supplied vats of curry & dhal that was so damned tasty grown men were reduced to tears and while folks were chowing down and enjoying a Kingfisher beer or three the entertainment began.
Award-winning stars of the festival circuit RSVP bathed the crowd with some foot-stomping Dhol drumming and Bhangra beats while the lovely ladies from the Bollywoodettes delighted onlookers with some dazzling booty shaking and well choreographed dance moves. After the professional dancers had worked their magic it was time for the rest of us to get dancing and the chaps from the band taught us enough moves to get the whole crowd moving in a Bhangra style.
Once the lessons were digested the sand strewn dance-floor was heaving until the tiny hours, the combination of the energetic dancing and the gigantic heater kicking up a sand-storm of karmic goodness.
Below are a selection of photos which we think convey the glorious chaos of the evening.
