Folks have been wondering why the bikes break down so much on the Ice Run. A very good question. If the bikes are all serviced to such a high spec at the start you'd think they shouldn't break that much, right?
Not so much. This is why.
The temperature in Siberia right now is about -40C. Mercury freezes at -38.83C.
At this temperature things become a bit more fragile. A Mars Bar would shatter into shards sharp enough to cut you. Flexible things like plastic and rubber become rigid and brittle. Tougher things like metal become weaker too.
It's something to do with science.
