  • Zaya and Michael with their mighty Ural preparing to start. This was before they dressed up as Santa Claus
  • The mayor of Irbit addresses the teams. This morning Katy addressed the town council and raised a giggle by apologising for the imminent shortage of all spark plugs, carburettor floats and shovels right across town. The Mayor was in good spirits after a convincing win in the regional Ice Hockey finals on Saturday, and presented Katy with a team t-shirt, before joining in with the launch festivities later in the day.
  • The Ice Runners plus Crew 2013. The sturdy teams pose in front of the Ural Factory in Irbit, where the bikes are still manufactured as they have been for 50 years, just before the launch of the 2013 Ice Run. Joining them in the picture are some of the crew who have helped put the show on the road; Sergey-the-boss, chief wrangler in Irbit, Sergey-the-Mechanic, as the name suggests, Olly Rowland, 2012 Ice Run Pioneer who has been dispensing good advice and bad language since the teams arrived and preparing the bikes in the preceding days, and Katy, Ice Run Manager, who shuffled the papers

  • Team Snow Worries' Mighty Ural, Black Caviar, pimped to the max with her sponsor and partner logos. Huge thanks to Buff for the tremendous Cyclone windproof Buffs, and to F2 Motorcycles in the UK for the exceptionally enlightening tutorials on the art of Ural maintenance

  • After an almost biblical display of faffing the teams are all finally ready to go to the Arctic and they convoy regally out of the hotel and towards the Ural Factory, the spiritual home of the bikes and pride of Irbit. Snow Worries lead the way
