The very nature of the event means we cannot be in a large, built up urban area (with all the ‘normal’ facilities etc). Therefore you will need to be as self-sufficient as possible in the days leading up to the start.
What about stuff that I need only at the start and finish lines, but don’t want to take with me on the event?
Unfortunately we don't have the capacity to ship all your extra gear you might not need on the actual race. We're looking into the option on this including UPS etc...
The Finish Line
The Finish line address is:
8591 Hogan Dam Road
Contact is Heidi and Mike (we'll email you their phone numbers)
How to get there (not flying)
Bloody difficult without your own vehicle. The nice friendly people at Black Hawk ranch will be asking for volunteers to give pilots a lift (for a contribution towards time and fuel) from the Finish Line to civilisation (e.g airports).
From Sacramento, one would take the 99 south to Highway 12. Then Highway 12 to Valley Springs. At the 4 way stop (slowly being transitioned to a Round-About) go right on Highway 26. Follow Highway 26 to Silver Rapids Road and go left. Take Silver Rapids for about a mile and you'll see a quarry on your right. Go over the bridge there and you'll be on Hogan Dam Road. This road is 5.3 very twisty miles back to the ranch. The pavement will end and that's ok. Take the gravel road up to where the road comes to a T. You're on the ranch! To your left is the entrance to the airstrip where the event will be taking place.
Nearest international airport
Sacramento / San Francisco
There is a Fly-In event organised to celebrate the end of the race, so there will be plenty of folk ready to listen wide-eyed at your tales of derring do.
BlackHawk Ranch is 10 miles from the small town of Valley Springs.
There is one supermarket: Marval. There is a hardware store as well: Senders Market.
Where can I stay
You can camp or...
10th Green Inn Motel (only motel)

What about eating and drinking?
There will be a BBQ dinner on Sat 24th October at Black Hawk Ranch, apart from that, you are on your own food wise. The plan is to charm some of the locals into giving you a lift to / from town.
In Valley Springs there are some restaurants and cafes. Thai House, Hawgs Dawgs, and Asian Fusion are some good local places to eat.
