First Ice Run underway: Ural motorbike and sidecar teams taking on frozen Siberian rivers and ice roads

Live Now: Adventure teams attempting first edition of extreme adventure across the frozen Siberian wilderness on soviet-era motorbikes with no back up, support or set route.
The only way to reach the finish line is by driving on frozen Siberian rivers and ice roads through remote areas in sub zero temperatures that could drop as low as -30 degrees celsius. A local policeman said to Will Kemble-Clarkson, a British Ice Run team member at the launch site: “Nobody takes the ice roads, they are only for lorries, bears and wolves...”

Driving on frozen Siberian rivers and ice roads: The first ever Ice Run launches on Monday

Adventure teams attempting first edition of extreme adventure across the frozen Siberian wilderness on Ural motorbikes and side-cars with no back up, support or set route.
On Monday 13th February, 12 amateur adventure teams will set out from Irbit on the southwestern corner of the River Ob in Russia and attempt to drive 1500km north to Salekhard, the only town in the world that sits on the Arctic Circle.

3.5 Million raised for charity by amateur adventure teams

From driving to Mongolia in tiny cars to crossing India in tuk-tuks, amateur teams on extreme unsupported adventures organised by The Adventurists have used the unusual format of the trips to raise huge sums for charity despite the gloomy financial environment.
After 8 years and 8 different adventures 6639 people from more than 25 countries have now raised £3 534 790 for charity between 2004 and the end of 2011.
