Lois Pryce

On February 6th, The Adventurists held a rather a spiffing afternoon tea in the most salubrious surroundings of London’s Royal Geographical Society. Over 250 Adventurists travelled from far and wide to engulf themselves in Adventuristic banter. The tea was exquisite, the cakes simply delightful, however it was the talk by the most excellent lady adventurer Lois Pryce that really stole the show.

First off David Bass of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office took to the stage to dish out the essential do's and don'ts of foreign travel. After this splendidly informative chin-wag, the lights dimmed and rapturous applause welcomed Lois Pryce, motorcycle adventuress extraordinaire.

Lois recounted how, in 2003, she became weary of the daily grind of jargon-infested London media-land, and decided to jack in her job at the BBC to ride twenty thousand miles from Alaska to the tip of South America astride her Yamaha dirt bike. Then, in October 2006 she set off again, this time to ride the length of Africa from London to Cape Town. Four months and ten thousand miles later, having tackled Kalashnikov-wielding soldiers and Angolan minefields along the way she had completed her second epic adventure.

Lois' thrilling tales were down-to-earth, full to the rafters with amusing anecdotes and marvellously intertwined with short video segments. If you would like to know more, both adventures have been published in the good old-fashioned medium of 'book' and are available from her website: http://www.loisontheloose.com
